Copying and pasting material from other websites needs to be done with some thought and care. Nearly all content, articles and images are copyrighted and owned by the authors, often requiring permission before reproduction.
Not that you would thinks so, judging by the vast amount of material posted across social media everyday taken from other websites!
Warning - Is it copyrighted?
When you do copy/paste content, do check that we won't be receiving a "take down" notice from the owners if they see it posted here. Such an event would probably lead us to having to quarantine and then check numerous individual posts and possibly an entire ban on similar posts in the future.

After copy/pasting, please do add a link to where you found the material. (This is noted in our Community Guidelines.) Example of linking:
Recipe for Creamy chicken korma
Details copy/pasted from another website. Perhaps a picture also taken from the page.

Check your content
Do check through your post for embedded links within the text and images you are copying. These may contain links to advertising products, or worse, and will be edited by a Moderator to remove the link.

At this point I can right-click-copy the URL (or use CTRL+C) to copy the URL into computer memory.
I now go to my post to paste the link into my discussion or comment. Here I can do a right-click-paste (or use CTRL+V)
If I use Paste, I get: Versus Arthritis | All of us pushing to defy arthritis
This has turned the URL into a link using the Title Text of the page as the actual link. Quite useful but also it restricts knowing the actual URL used: a sneaky way to trick people going to sites other than advertised. More about this in the Comments.
You may notice the Paste as plain text option in the list above. Using this does show the URL: //www.wfysxh.com/ Depending on the context, you will hopefully see the option Paste as:
At this point you can change the default action to Paste as Plain Text which is what it always used to be before Microsoft decided to confuse us all.
Add a Picture
You can only add a picture from your computer so you may need to download one and save - jpeg (.jpg) works fine.
When you get to the stage where you want to add your picture click on the
below and select your picture. Then click on open. It will always be in the centre and cannot be moved.

But what if you want to quote just one or two sentences from a post?
Lets give an example using the following text:
Versus Arthritis Online Community
An online community for people living with arthritis and people caring and supporting those living with arthritis to share experiences and ask questions. A safe space for people living with arthritis to access and give support.
I want to take one part "people living with arthritis and people caring and supporting those living with arthritis" and use it as a quotation. (And yes, I know that putting it between quotation marks does this! )
The Leave A Comment Box has a number of tools that can be used to format text. One of them is to mark a paragraph as a Heading; part of a list; or Special Format (like a quotation) The pop-up menu that holds these formatting tools is found to the left of the current paragraph outside the the Comment Box and looks like a "backwards P".
So, returning to the issue: quoting a sentence from another post. The three steps to mark it as a quotation are:
- Select and then copy the sentence into memory (e.g. use CTRL-C in Windows)
- Paste the sentence into your Comment in the appropriate place
- Use the Format Text tools (click "backwards P") and select Quotation from the Special Format list
Remember to use @username if appropriate in your reply to show where the quotation has come from.
Back to the example: quoting the partial sentence above.
First Copy and then Paste the sentence to a new line. Then select the Format Text Tool (click "backwards P"). Then select Quote from the pop-up. Lastly, @username and continue the post.

@Parlicoot this refers to something you said in our last conversation... and so on.
You can now quote a person using different parts of a longer post as part of your Comment within the Discussion.
Searching the Community has now been updated. After typing into the Search box (top left) you get a set of results. The search title now has a small arrow to the right of the box:
Clicking this arrow then shows an advanced Search form that allows you to narrow down the results a bit more:

The 'Mark all viewed' option is the way to make all discussions lose the NEW indicator. Posts made after the time you clicked the Mark all Viewed option will still show a NEW marker. This can be very useful when first logging in or registering with the Community Forum since by default all posts will be NEW.

Recent Posts
The tab at the top of the page will take you to the most recent posts from all the forum areas …
… as will clicking the Recent Posts link found above.
These are arranged in order with newest post at the top. When you have read a post it will still be in the same order if you haven’t commented on it - the newest post is still at the top. However it will have lost it’s NEW label.
Scroll down to the next NEW and take it from there.
The Home page
From the Home page you can choose which category to check first; Look at recent posts; start new discussions and write comments; contact a Moderator or check out your profile. You will find there are multiple ways to manage the forum, just choose the one that works best for you and enjoy!

Forums and recent posts can be navigated to from here
Here’s the home button. This will take you back to the Home page if you get lost
Clicking on the Forums button or scrolling down beyond the picture banner brings you to the titles of the categories in the forum. Inside each category are the discussions started by members. You might want to comment on existing discussions or start a new discussion of your own
You will need to be inside a category to start a new discussion.
- Choose the best category for your new discussion and click on the category title to go there.
- Now, click the New Discussion button and you will then need to fill in a title before writing the full content of your post.
- You can Cancel or Save A Draft of your posting at any time.
- When you are happy, click Post Discussion to have your post appear in the Category.
On the home page of the community you will see the list of categories, choose one to post a comment on
