Mobility Aid early 30s

Hello All,

Feel a little alone where I am and being in my early 30s struggling to walk with Arthritis on my feet and Fibro pain.

Feel like each day it gets worse and feels odd to have to be using a walking aid more often.

Do other people use walking aids from Osteo Arthritus in toes? Some days I am so tired I cant get out of bed.

Thank you for reading this.

    Hello to you@Se1ina欢迎来到在线社区。

I am so glad you have found the community because there is no need to feel alone now. Everyone here understands your struggles with pain.

I am going to attach a couple of links while you wait for someone to come along and share their experience with you. The first is about Osteoarthritis of the foot and ankle (apologies if you know all this already) :

The second is an old thread on the subject of walking sticks as you say it feels odd to be needing to use yours more often:

    \nThanks 😊
\nAmy","bodyRaw":"I'm looking for some advice please. I've had RA for about 8 years now but after it being pretty quiet for about 4 years it's been the worst it's ever been for the past 9 months. Over this past month or so I have had such severe fatigue that I'm sometimes finding it hard to move about because I feel so weak. I've been on Hydroxychloroquine for about 6 weeks so still waiting for that to start working (been told it can take up to 12 weeks) and I also take naproxen and cocodamol for pain relief but nothing seems to touch the fatigue. I have been back and forth about the idea of getting a walk stick to help me get about a bit easier when I'm feeling exhausted and weak but for some reason I have it in my mind that I will be seen as a failure or something for using a walking stick (especially as I'm only 36). What are people's though on walking sticks and other aids? \n\nThanks 😊\nAmy","format":"bbcode","dateInserted":"2020-02-03T13:42:49+00:00","insertUser":{"userID":112203,"name":"AmyAcorn","url":"https:\/\/community.versusarthritis.org\/profile\/AmyAcorn","photoUrl":"https:\/\/w8.vanillicon.com\/v2\/8a2293b724620b689947f3ac4f9aa888.svg","dateLastActive":"2021-11-20T20:04:31+00:00","banned":0,"punished":0,"private":false},"displayOptions":{"showUserLabel":false,"showCompactUserInfo":true,"showDiscussionLink":true,"showPostLink":true,"showCategoryLink":false,"renderFullContent":false,"expandByDefault":false},"url":"https:\/\/community.versusarthritis.org\/discussion\/51345\/walking-stick","embedType":"quote","name":"Walking stick"}"> https://community.versusarthritis.org/discussion/51345/walking-stick

Finally some information about fatigue as you say some days you are too tired to even get out of bed:

    Very best wishes Se1ina

You could try asking your GP to refer you to an orthotist. Custom made orthotic insoles might help.

I used to use my sons' prams and push chairs as walking aids

Thank you Stickywicket. I find it is tricky to be assertive with my GP, but I will try this. Do you use walking aids outside the house?

I don't think you need to be assertive. Just explain how wobbly you are and say someone suggested that an orthotist might be able to help with insoles. Ask what he thinks. Worth a try.
