    Hi@Bernardo

Morning stiffness and pain is a topic which does come up regularly here, but for the life of me I couldn't find a recent thread.

I found this one in the end some of these members are still around and there are some tips within the thread@stickywicketfor instance:

\nI'm in need of some advice about morning stiffness and pain. I'm really struggling atm, taking me about 3 hours to feel like I can start the day. I'm off work sick and have no hope of returning whilst like this (I work 9-5 Mon-Fri). Even before RA I struggled in the morning due to depression, RA just compounds this now and it's like waking up at the foot of a mountain I must climb to start the day...

\nI'm also getting quite a lot of pain in my feet where my big toes join my foot, I've been told there is no inflammation there, but it's painful to walk and very tender to touch. I feel like the bone is sticking out more than before. I'm seeing the nurse next week and want to push to have this investigated, any advice in the meantime? Hot or cold, or both?!!

    \nThanks guys,

I know this may not be the same type of Arthritis as you have, but pain is one thing everyone here has in common isn't it?

    Best wishes

    Hi@Bernardo

One of the many rheumatologists I've seen in the last 18 months told me that the body generates it's own steroids in a circadian rhythm but that overnight that production is at it's lowest and he said it stopped between 4 and 7am. That's how he explained things being worse when waking up. With me I wake almost every morning around 4 am and my hands are aching.

  • Thanks for the comments on my current condition it really helps to know other people are suffering the same if that doesn't sound too unsympathetic.
